BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
June 15, 2006
Present: J. Boylan, M. Hundt, S. Catania, C. Krosel,
K. Moss, P. Pavarini, S. Smith, B. Bergen, S. Nagy, L. McLaughlin-Murray,
B. Blough, M. Leslie
TWDC Staff: S. Bloom (Asst. Director) for C. Gilson
(Exec. Director). C. Gilson participating in LISC sponsored Executive
Leadership Institute.
Excused: R. Vinci, B. Rikker, N. Swerdlow
Vice President Catania opened the meeting at 6:07
p.m.
I. Approval of May Minutes: J. Boylan moved to
accept; S. Nagy seconded. All voted in favor.
II. Financial Reports: Treasurer Boylan gave a
brief summary of income and expenses. Final figures are not available
for the Reverse Raffle. Boylan asked directors to consider implications
of holding three events, Trek, Taste, and the Reverse Raffle that occur
together in a relatively short span of time and target the same donor
pool. Can we prepare a package of sponsorship activities?
Regarding the Reverse Raffle, Director Pavarini
suggested that we begin soliciting prizes and sponsors in Novembers. If
we time our "ask", we would get better results.
Vice President Catania asked that all directors
come prepared with five ideas for fund-raising for presentation at the
next meeting.
Karen Moss is working on wording of agreement for
TWDC and organizations who have TWDC as fiscal agent.
L. McLaughlin Murray moved to accept the May financials;
M. Hundt seconded. All voted in favor.
III. Long Range Planning: SWOT questionnaires are
being collected and analyzed. S. Catania stated that this planning process
offers all of us a chance to reflect on development issues in the neighborhood.
We need to engage everyone. There was mention of the Civility Project
effort to be started by Merrick House. Community leaders need to be involved.
IV. Program/Project Updates:
Bergen Village - six units sold; Tremont Commons
- two units for sale; Lori Properties-met with block club; Clover Townhomes
- designs approved for five units
Commercial development - two storefronts under
development; Pilgrim Church annex scheduled for design review. Trek sold
out. Great publicity
Walter Wright is leaving for employment with NPI
as of July 3rd. Walter will help with transition. We wish to commend Walter
for his dedication, creativity, and hard work! Colleen is reviewing job
descriptions and will be making some adjustments.
Community Organizing: Please see newsletter for
summer activities.
Property Management: Ohio City Near West has notified
TWDC that they are seeking alternate management plans for properties in
their CDC area.
There being no further business, K. Moss moved
to adjourn; L. McLaughlin-Murray seconded.
